An Immersive Experience

Art In Person

Experiencing artworks in person is extraordinary. The vibrant colours, intricate textures, and grand scale create an immersive experience that online exhibitions can't replicate. While convenient, online viewing often misses the full essence of a piece.

My visit to the Edith Collier exhibition impressed me deeply, surpassing the book's representation (see previous blog). This experience reinforced my belief in promoting physical exhibitions where viewers can discuss, learn, and appreciate the artist's techniques.

While I maintain my portfolio at www.wendyshipman.com, it's a supplementary tool rather than a replacement for real-life art experiences. Online platforms are important but cannot match in-person viewing. Visit exhibitions, support local artists, and immerse yourself in art – it’s worth it.

Mares’ Tails

“Mares’ Tails” by Wendy Shipman is a limited edition gouache print capturing windswept clouds over Kapiti Island. Printed on archival Hahnemühle Photo Rag and framed in neutral-toned rubberwood, this A2 artwork blends tradition and modern design. Discover coastal New Zealand art from MakeHer Studio.

Kapiti Coast Art Trail 2025

Furthermore, I am pleased to announce my participation in the 25th Annual Kapiti Coast Art Trail, in November 2025.

The event will take place on the weekends of 1-2 & 8-9 November 2025.

I invite you to mark these dates on your calendar and visit my studio, The MakeHer Studio, Wendy Shipman Artist, located in Raumati Beach. Grab an Art Trail Guide when they come out or contact me and I can send you one. This will be an excellent opportunity to view my art up close, discuss my creative process, and learn the stories behind each piece.

Wendy’s work is deeply rooted in the rhythms of coastal life, the resilience of women, and the joy of shared experience. Whether through original paintings, greeting cards, or workshops, MakeHer Studio invites people to pause, reflect, and reconnect—with themselves and with each other.
